This is to announce that "tdev", core developer of Rigs of Rods, has now joined the PagedGeometry project! In addition to helping merge patches etc., he plans to research and develop new features for PagedGeometry, and update to use new features like Ogre's new paging system, towards a hopeful PagedGeometry 2.0 equivalent at some point.

Since I am currently unable to spend much time adding features, tdev will for the most part be in charge of feature development (although I'll help with some features if I can when I get my computer repaired). Thanks to tdev now PagedGeometry may see some improvements in the not too distant future, and you may be seeing some some new feature idea discussion threads up soon from him :)

Thanks tdev, and congratulations! :D

Ah, sorry. I'll edit that.

Good news! I had actually started using Paged Geometry in my project very shortly before finding out about the new Ogre paging system, so I was concerned about PG's future even though for the most part I consider it 'feature complete' (it really is well written software and well documented). Anyway, I may have a patch or two in the near future, but that's all I will say for now, as there are other things taking priority in the moment. Well, it is good to know that one's patches will not go ignored before taking the time to make them. :)

merging patches, cleaning up a bit now :)
when im done i might release a new version that covers all the SVN changes.

Any news on the paged geometry 2.0:]

Also, if you would like, I wouldn't mind doing some work on this, or at least starting the discussion.

I have been trying to use the new ogre blend maps, for density and colour maps... not sure it is the correct approach at this stage. Also the baked light maps that the new terrain uses, could be incorporated, anyway just starting up the discussion, might be cool if we create a new forum topic around this.

PS-I have only in the last few days got my head around the new Ogre terrain, it is quite good, just that the learning curve for some reason seemed fairly hard for what is basically a fairly simple system... (Maybe I should make demo and tutorial  ....) still looking into the paging part...

PS-Thanks for picking up the baton with Paged Geometry it is one of the easiest, and quickest visual add-ons around. Looks fantastic, and with tight integration into the new ogre terrain paging, I think it will be simply amazing what people can pump out with it.
