High resolution map

Aloha!

Our maps need a lot of details (ie.: about 6in x 6in) for a relatively small area (ie.: 3000 ft x 750 ft). As I expected, I end up viewing quite a small part of the terrain, with a lot of pages loading, or eating a lot of (V)RAM.

Of course, I don't need this much precision at a distance, so I wonder what could be my possible options. I saw a thread here wishing for different tile sizes depending on the distance, but I think this is not an option right now.

As a workaround, is it possible (and useful) to, let's say, load many paging scene managers, with a larger scale and smaller terrain maps?

I can't imagine that working because the different terrain maps wouldn't meet up properly at the seams.

You'll have to wait until the PLM2 supports the functionality you need, or look at using meshes and your own LOD handling for terrain.
