[Solved] Ground/Wheel/Motor and Scale issue

Hi

I'm putting everything together and I need a little help.

1) What is the best scale for my car model? In max it is in inches, so my car is now 110x53x190, is it to big?
2) My floor is mesh 97000x8400x97000. is it big either
3) What is the best scene manager and how is the best way to build my racing track - all the buildings, signs, obstacles and stuff are separated meshes.

Thanks,
Dirso.

Yep. NxOgre uses SI units (metres to be precise), so your car and floor is huge.

It's really an Ogre question, but NxOgre can use any scene manager.

Can you tell me what settings I should change in max to not loose my models?

You need to set your scale in Max to metres and scale your mesh by 0.0254.

I used the scale in ogre/nxogre and seems to work fine!

If I scale the game objects in run-time, would I loose performance?

So, the runtime scaling would be enough? and I wouldn't loose performance enough to be worried about, right? If I make a utility that rescale every mesh I have and then use it, would it be better?

[EDIT]
Would I have any problems with texture maps or something like that?

You should really scale them in your modeler, it's just more efficient.

this is scaled!
p.s. very very early!

stupid question... why 0.0254?
if the scale was in mm, is wrong scale to 0.001?
i missed something... :(

The units were in inches (1in = 2.54cm)

but sorry... i have my 3d in millimeters, i've exported and in NxOgre world I applied a scale of 0.001 and is right, the car now have a length of 4.xx meters....
but if I want convert my 3d i must apply a scale of 0.001 not 0.0254.....
or not?

what was your original scale and what do you want the measurements in now?

hi!
my body is in mm, so I have a car body that has length = 4000~
to use correct with NxOgre when I create a body I apply a scale of 0.001 (so 4000 meters become 4 meters)
thanks

Yes you are ok then although if I was you I'd get my scale right in the modeller :)
Good luck with your project.
