Completely new design, Completely new software!

The NxOgre wiki is back! Until I've written the user system code, I will be handing out the edit password to trusted people only. People who have over 30 posts and have contributed something to NxOgre, if you feel you qualify and want to contribute to the website. I am talking writing pages of documentation here, not the occasional paragraph. PM me.

The design isn't finished, and there more icons to go on the front page. The ShortGuide is being ported over to the new formatting system, but the previous link still works.

If anyone encounters any browser quirks, javascript errors post them here. If anyone gets any software errors - please PM me with a screenshot or a copy and paste of the error.

Otherwise enjoy the first step in many of the new documentation!

Wow, thats a nice style you have made the site in.

Although, there are a few errors. I know you only posted it earler today and you will probably still be working on it but I shall post here in case it is useful to you.

By the way I am running at 1024x768 if that helps with any CSS problems ect.

Broken Links:
http://www.nxogre.org/compile doesn't exsist (linking from /index)
http://www.nxogre.org/shortguide_and_scene
http://www.nxogre.org/shortguide_actors_and_dead_bodies
http://www.nxogre.org/shortguide_a_whole_mess_of_shapes
http://www.nxogre.org/shortguide_partners_in_crime

Ok well basically all the links on the Short Guide except for the first 2 links and the final "Who Dunnit?"

I might also add there is a broken image on the /shotguide page, as well as there being no passworded "Edit" button.

Finally, there are a few issues with the background, I can't describe it too well, so here is a link to a screenshot of what it looks like. (Hence why I put the screen resolution)

Again, I'm sorry if you are currently fixing these things and this post is almost useless, but I thought I should mention it.

P.S. Just so I don't sound that ungrateful, because i'm sure I do, making my first post be about problems with something new that has just come out, I really like the new site and how it is going to work, and I also love your work with NxOgre and other projects betajaen so thanks :)

The missing links are okay. I know about them, the pages haven't been written yet. Unlike MediaWiki, Plastic doesn't really care or know about missing pages so won't format them as a missing link - Even if it did, it wouldn't be practical. All of the pages are working from the cache and any access to the database is rare, that is why the page generation time is fast.

The bugs you experience seem to be an Internet Explorer 7.0 only problem, I did test out the basic layout a month ago and naturally assumed it would work then. Obviously not.

I have a local copy of the website at home, so I will adjust the CSS so it works with Internet Explorer better.

As for the passworded edit link, on featured pages; Shortguide for example. It doesn't have one, getting to the edit page is quite simple and looks out of place.

But thankyou for taking the time to post about it, I wouldn't of known otherwise.

I've done a quick redesign - the look is basically the same but the images have been improved quite a bit. As well as the font-size and just general neatness and there is a new and better edit page.

It should work in Internet Explorer 7.0 too - minus a few bits.

Just improved fetching time of pages. Using the "what" page as a bench mark it took 0.03 of a second to load and display now it only takes ~0.001 of a second to load. Not a bad speed increase.

I will be implementing some sort of user identification soon as well so others can edit the website.

Why did you decide to use Mint?

I've been using it for years, no reason to stop.

Redesigned the index page to include the latest five twitter posts I made or will make in the future - automatically.

There is a massive expansion planned soon including an amazing new download page and much cleaner first splash page, as well as a never seen before on the internet style of editing a page - moving back and forward to the page source and preview - horizontally.

Another big update. Bottom bar has changed, and internal code has been modified a little bit to allow custom designs.

Aka the new download page. ;)

Consequentially, all of the old page have to be re-cached by hand for them to look nice. But I'm on it.

Added a "Recent Changes" page so you can track what I've been doing on there.

Argh! My instinct says Wolfenstein 3d, but then, it looks close to Doom, as well.

Bleh, I'm old.

Oh, btw, I would love to offer my services as an editor. I work for my University's writing center, and would love to help out if needed. I can email you some of my technical or creative stuff by way of a reference.

Also, I am finally free to dig into NxOgre, so hopefully will be able to contribute on the technical side more as well.

Lemme know!

It's around that age. It's the difficulty selection screen for Monkey Island 2. My sister immediately recognised it, and I thought somebody here would do to.

Yes. I would be quite interested. PM me something creative. ;)
