OgreOggSound with Visual Studio 2010

Hi,

In a previous game that i build i used OgreOggSound with Visual Studio 2008. It worked very good. Yesterday i started an new project using Visual Studio 2010. But i tryed to use OgreOggSound again. But when i run my project the project hangs :( .

Is there an option that i could use OgreOggSound with Visual Studio 2010? :D I've tryed to build the project with the source of the SVN but i didn't succeed.

Hmm, I haven't tried VC2010 yet so don't know whats changed that could be causing the hang, can you debug where it hangs?

I switched back to VS2008. After my examweek i will look where it hangs.

Hi,

Today i made my exam. It would be great if OgreOggSound will work with VS2010, it is such an awsome audio wrapper. I'll do my best to help you, but i have only less then 6 months of experience with C++. So i could not guarentee you that i would find the problem.

Here is my Ogre.log with an VS2010 project. I used in this project OgreOggSound. There is a strange line when OgreOggSound get's registered. It's not like when registering OgreOggSound in VS2008.

I haven't got that far yet, I was getting '_ITERATOR_DEBUG_LEVEL' errors when trying to build the OGRE source but I see Sinbad suffered the same issue so I might have a resolution to that to try later.

Have you tried debugging the crash?

If you switch to debug configuration and run with F5 you can step through the code and check the various stages of initialisation of OgreOggSound and see if anything funny appears.

To be honest I forgot about the prebuilt SDK's :oops: I usually only use source versions of OGRE because it allows debugging and modification.

Haha ok. With Ogre release 1.70 i used the source. But a few weeks afther that Ogre 1.71 was released and i didn't whant to spent much time on building Ogre. I want to use Ogre.
I know how to use the debugger, is there something i need to look at? Because i see a lot of values :lol:

Just for your information, I managed to test the lib with the vc10 sdk and it works fine.

From your screenshot, I'm guessing its maybe driver issues with your soundcard, looks like its probably failing to create the OpenAL context / device?

Try stepping into the int() function to see that the context/device creation is ok.

Bumping an old thread, because I have a similar problem.
Compiling went fine, also Ogre loads the plugin without any errors, but when calling the init function


OgreOggSound::OgreOggSoundManager::getSingletonPtr()->init();


the singleton instance is a nullpointer.
I checked if the OgreOggSoundManager is initialized (which it is). But between there and the init call somehow the instance becomes a nullpointer.
Any Ideas?

I've experienced random things like this when linking against one version of a library but using a different version at runtime. I'd suggest re-checking your dll's and ensuring everything is compiled against the same libraries.
