I believe that the easiest way to add softbody support to python-ogre is to get bindings working for btogre together with code from here. Has anyone tried this before? Or could someone provide maybe a comprehensible pyplusplus howto about generating new bindings?

I've been working on converting my own projects from ogrebullet to btogre as a means of testing it (I'm mainly using collisions), and it's all going smoothly. Thanks again!
I also found out that it's apparently very easy to get blender models to play nice with the softbody part. You can use this exporter, and manually set use32bitindexes="True" in the .mesh.xml file.
I'll post snippets as I proceed!
EDIT: OK, I'm still not comfortable enough with softbodies to write demos about it, but here's a little something that shows some stuff about bullet and your new bindings:
-moving/scaling both physics bodies and ogre nodes with BtOgre.RigidBodyState
-raycasting with btogre/bullet
It's basically the python-ogre wiki Intermediate Tutorial #3 converted to use btogre/bullet. While I'm not using dynamics, I'm still initialising a dynamicsworld, as there's no debug drawer for btCollisionWorld. I'm also using the "official" PyCEGUI bindings instead of the ones generated with the python-ogre build system.

Quick question: Have you tried to build the bullet wrapper from source on windows? (So as to take advantage of the softbody support you kindly provided.)

For your Windows build problem try excluding btSparseSdf, edit bullet/generate_code.py:

I have used OGRE in C++ a little and know the basics. I recently decided to try the python binding. I just successfully built and tested python-ogre from svn trunk with ogre 1.7.4. I followed discussion on this thread and sucessfully built bullet-2.80-rev2527 and tested the demos. I sincerely want to thank dermont & thios for such valuable infos and your works.
As I have been following, I see you guys mentioning btOgre module for python-ogre, if I am not mistaken, but I can't seem to find any further info or download link to that. I would greatly appreciate if you could give me some info regarding that.
