Maybe you've noticed that you've got a new 'Kudos' field in your profile?
We have installed a Kudos mod which enables you to give Kudos to the author of a post.
So if you like a post because you find it useful, and you think the author deserves a Kudos for writing it, you can click the new Kudos button ('thumbs up') and the Kudos will be recorded.
Why did we do this?

Post count is not always an indicator of quality.
Kudos count could be.
Also, we want to recognize all those community members who take the time - and put effort into - writing quality posts.
Thanks!

I think in cases where we want to recognise good community members, some kind of karma mod might be useful where users can give kudos / karma themselves. I generally try to avoid mods, but this is one case where it would probably be justified, to make sure people get recognised for their good everyday work in the community
