Kudos

Maybe you've noticed that you've got a new 'Kudos' field in your profile? :)

We have installed a Kudos mod which enables you to give Kudos to the author of a post.

So if you like a post because you find it useful, and you think the author deserves a Kudos for writing it, you can click the new Kudos button ('thumbs up') and the Kudos will be recorded.

Why did we do this? :)

Let me quote our project founder Sinbad:
I think in cases where we want to recognise good community members, some kind of karma mod might be useful where users can give kudos / karma themselves. I generally try to avoid mods, but this is one case where it would probably be justified, to make sure people get recognised for their good everyday work in the community

So, what's the basic idea?

Let me quote Masterfalcon:
So the basic idea is similar to rating posts on stackoverflow? I could see that being helpful, especially to new users. It could increase the confidence they have in certain peoples' advice.

Post count is not always an indicator of quality.
Kudos count could be.

Also, we want to recognize all those community members who take the time - and put effort into - writing quality posts.

Thanks!

And now you can actually see the new Kudos button. :D

I clicked to "thumbs up" and got the notice: Invalid kudos
The counter is still 0 for jacmoe.

Thanks Beauty! :)
It looks like this mod doesn't work in a global sticky.

Unfortunately now the thumbs up symbol is not visible anymore.

Now the kudos counter works, but I still get the "Invalid kudos" message. (Now this happened in the main forum.)

When a post got a bonus point, the thumbs up symbol changes to .
It's an action button, but it looks like a mark for a BAD POST.
Better would be to highlight/ink the thumbs up symbol (instead of showing a thumbs down symbol).

But I don't see the buttons !

Ctrl+F5 to refresh the browser cache.

This was not helping. The thumbs buttons are still unvisible.

Kudos are probably not available in the Announcements forum.

They were available last night.
Right -- in other sections of the add-ons forum the button is visible.

The kudos button is also working here in the announcement section, but perhaps only for mods which however would not make sense. I will ask jacmoe...

Try now.
Sometimes the phpBB permissions setup is too confusing..
Thanks for your patience, guys! :)

There is still a problem for adding kudos in the add-ons forum.

In the main forum you get the message You have just given kudos for this post and after one second you will be redirection to the related post.

When you give kusos in the add-ons forum, you get the message invalis kudos and there is no redirection to the related post.
Well, the kudos was given, but the message is confusing and the missing redirection is disturbing.

It would be nice, if our wizzard jacmoe can fix the problem :P
