Ogre supporting file

Post by NorthernLightJV »

Hi,
I wanted to know if Ogre 1.9.0 supported .png and jpg files ?
(By the way, if you can tell me how to convert .obj/.3ds/.stl to .mesh)
Thank you

Ogre uses FreeImage, so it supports a lot of formats. From the FreeImage website:
BMP files [reading, writing]
Dr. Halo CUT files [reading] *
DDS files [reading]
EXR files [reading, writing]
Raw Fax G3 files [reading]
GIF files [reading, writing]
HDR files [reading, writing]
ICO files [reading, writing]
IFF files [reading]
JBIG files [reading, writing] **
JNG files [reading, writing]
JPEG/JIF files [reading, writing]
JPEG-2000 File Format [reading, writing]
JPEG-2000 codestream [reading, writing]
JPEG-XR files [reading, writing]
KOALA files [reading]
Kodak PhotoCD files [reading]
MNG files [reading]
PCX files [reading]
PBM/PGM/PPM files [reading, writing]
PFM files [reading, writing]
PNG files [reading, writing]
Macintosh PICT files [reading]
Photoshop PSD files [reading]
RAW camera files [reading]
Sun RAS files [reading]
SGI files [reading]
TARGA files [reading, writing]
TIFF files [reading, writing]
WBMP files [reading, writing]
WebP files [reading, writing]
XBM files [reading]
XPM files [reading, writing]
The easiest way to convert obj, 3ds and stl to mesh would be via Blender. It should be able to handle all of those, and there's an ogre exporter available for it.

I didn't check by myself yet though. And maybe you did it in a different way.

Yep, I just loaded a psd file as a texture, works fine. :)
There may be differences in supported features though, no idea. I only did a simple test.
