oTakhi Platform

Post by mr otakhi »

Hi Ogre Users,

I would like to introduce a new Game Engine that embeds Ogre inside Mozilla browser. It is called oTakhi Platform. It is a new kind of cloud-based platform (Software as a Service) for visually designing and sharing web apps and 3d games using primarily drag-and-drop with optional javascript coding.

Unlike other game engines, oTakhi is a software on demand service where all local hardware and computing resources are encapsulated by 34 widgets that can be mixed and combined by you, following higher level application logic, to form web applications and 3d games that are sharable with other users.

oTakhi platform provides an Object-Oriented framework, not at the code level but at the visual interface level, that allows user to create intermediary autonomous objects to share with other developers. These shared objects (called droplets) can later be reused in different apps.

Members can share 3D digital assets not only as individual files but also as autonomous entities made of multiple 3D models, sound tracks, and behavior.

Each oTakhi Web App can be exported and run as stand-alone desktop application.

A few sample objects that I published earlier can be found at http://www.otakhi.com. This site will host the global repository for all such objects and web apps.

Here is a screen shot of the oTakhi client software in action:

The user manual is here (still a work in progress.)

oTakhi Platform will be a free service, similar to youtube but for sharing web apps, games, and components/objects.

If you are interested in trying out our early developer release, you can download it here:

Let me know what you think.

Sincerely,
mr.otakhi

Over the past few months, we have been busy making constant improvement and bug fixes, in addition to adding new features, to our platform.
Thanks to our small group of in-house and a few external beta testers, we are now planning on releasing a Public Beta in mid-August.

The latest revision of oTakhi platform features Group Formation -- a tool that allows multiple users to collaborate on the same project remotely and in real time.

Here is a video of it in action:

A Mac version is also in the work and will be released by the end of the year.
Unix version is planned for next year.

stay tuned for more exciting news to come,

Thanks,

As some of you guys already know, we are about to relaunch oTakhi Platform as a new collaborative game development platform for the web (WebGL), where games are created/assembled from sharable objects that anyone can create and contribute using our web client. (Although, we are still maintaining the Ogre3D build.) Soon after, we are going to launch a Indiegogo campaign. Your contribution will help us continue development in many areas of the platforms.

The promo videos below serve as quick introduction to the platform.

A few examples of what you can create:

These are very simple applications created using our web client and published to our public app repository that anyone with a modern html5 browser can access.

If you have any question, please direct them to support@otakhi.com.

Thank you
