New (free) BVH viewer released

Post by Maestro81 »

BVHViewer 1.0 is a robust visualization tool for the Biovision Hierarchy (BVH) animation format.

Although there are (if not many) viewers to be found on the web, this is one of the few that supports:

- All possible rotation orders
- Local joint positions (Xposition, Yposition and Zposition) for all joints
- No assumption on hierarchy of framerate

Local joint positions are supported by the format and allow for bone scaling, making it ideal for Kinect output. For example, the exported BVH files from Brekel Kinect (http://www.brekel.com) can also be viewed.

The viewer is based on Ogre and can be found at http://bvhviewer.developmentinmotion.nl/.

I hope people find this useful.

Cheers, Ben

Looks good :)

I must admit that I have never heard of BVH. What is it used for, normally?

In fact, you can now use the Kinect to record/mocap animations. For example, Brekel Kinect (http://www.brekel.com) is software that is able to retrieve animations from the kinect and save them as BVH. You can then use these files in your game/animation.

Not only mocap data, but any keyframe animation with a fixed framerate ;)

That sucks.

The opennet initiative have found only one instance of your country blocking a website, and it wasn't a netherlands programmer's home page. But blocks could pop up at any time I guess.
(Assuming my admin powers deduced the correct country, I might be way off)
