Planet Generator
Hi guys,
me and others have started an open-source project using Ogre 3D a few months ago. We developed a software, which generates randomly shaped planet, according with a few settable parameters. We wanted to create a starting point for people who want to create an environment containing a planet. Actually around the web we can find many similar projects, which sometime are even better. So to provide something more we tried to create an interactive planet, in where you can put objects a resource (with which we can interact, for example moving those).

It would be great to see this project to grow up. If anybody have any suggestion would also be great.

Really cool!
The terrain looks somewhat low-res at the moment, are there some attempts to give it more detail/higher resolution? What does that look like?

The next step is absolutely about increasing the quality of the terrain and water. By the way the quality can be increased right now at the creation time. More precisely you can set the number of triangles composing the planet. It doesn't increase the quality of the shape so much though.
Till now the efforts have been put mainly on the creation of a few features, to interact with the planet. For example the possibility to put 3D objects (.mesh files) on the surface (not only on the surface), move those etc. Time has also been spent creating a GUI.
By the way the next move is to use ROAM technique to have a more realistic looking when zooming in the planet. The quality of the object itself can already be improved modifying the material or the planet. Help is welcome !!

Hi,
I tried your demo exe. But when I start the PlanetGeneratorUI.exe, I get the runtime error:
"This application failed to start because It could not find or load the Qt platform plugin for "windows".

We haven't worked on this project for a while. I apologise for that. But now I'm working on it on my free time (once in a while)
Anyway I fixed the problem which Lax has mentioned and now the exe should work.

Please let me know if it works.
I'm actually testing it on Windows 10 (64 bit) and Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bit).
I need to know if there are problems with other platforms.
