awesome! :D

I agree with you, the textures looks a little too uniform, like a cartoon or clay model.

spacegaier, why would you think it could be a she?

Well, I've never met an Ogre face-to-face (and it's likely that noone else here has ever done so :) ), but perhaps they have different characteristics to distinguish between he and she. As long as there is no proof, you can't be carefully enough in our times (in regards to political correctness) ;) .

I'm pretty sure female ogres don't have goatees, don't wear only pants and spiked shoulder straps, and don't have...erm..."packages".

Wow, that looks really good!

Some tips: Add some noise to the texture. Always works. :) Add some scars and stuff too. Make some more texture in the pants.

Or at least some angry peasants with pitch forks.

The ninja could fill in until we get some peasants. Maybe we could dirty up his clothing or something. :)

FInished rigging legs, feet, torso, neck, head, jaw, shoulders, and arms. Still need to rig hands, fingers, clothing, eyes, eyebrows and lips. In a few days, I will be ready to animate him. :D

Finished rigging hands, fingers, clothes and added sword attachment bones (so he can hold stuff in-game :)). I put him in a couple of poses, just for kicks. Check it out. :D

Somebody needs to create a Teken style game featuring Sinbad The Ogre and the new reworked Irrlicht fairy. :)

Finished rigging the eyebrows, lips, tongue, and cheeks. Sinbad isn't face-pose-friendly / lip-syncable, but he's capable of a fairly big range of expressions... except he's always smiling. :D I hope that's not a problem. Anyway, here's a little comparison with the original sketch.

Really awesome!
Some remarks though:
  • On the animations overview image in the lower right part, there is some z-fightging issue (not sure if that can be resolved or perhaps it already is).
  • Is one of the blades black by will?
  • On the comparison shot: From the front perspective the head cloth looks dull. Perhaps some more detail would be needed to create the impression of cloth. On the scetch you also see the ends of this piece of cloth behind his head which could also help to enhance the appearance.
But apart from these points: Great work. Will improve the SDK media a lot!!!

It's not z-fighting. It's just part of the belt going through his back due to him bending the wrong way. :D I fixed it, but the sword sheaths cover that area completely anyway.
spacegaier wrote: Is one of the blades black by will?
It's just the lighting.
spacegaier wrote: On the comparison shot: From the front perspective the head cloth looks dull. Perhaps some more detail would be needed to create the impression of cloth.
I won't touch the textures anymore, because if I add detail to one part, the entire thing has to change to keep consistency. I tried this already. It wasn't pretty. I suppose someone could make normal, detail, specular, and emissive maps for him later on.
spacegaier wrote: On the scetch you also see the ends of this piece of cloth behind his head which could also help to enhance the appearance.
Everything looks fine in a sketch until you convert it to 3D, because it's easy to make things look cool from one angle, but difficult to make it look good or even make sense from all angles in 3D. For those two ends to show up behind his head in 3D, they'd have to be massive, and very off to the side. It's hard to foresee this kind of stuff when drawing a sketch since I'm not so experienced, heh. ;)

EDIT: Because of the texturing, my guess is that he will look fantastic in cel-shading. ;)

great work.

Are you still going to add the bandages on the arms like on the reference?

I think they'd add quite something to the charatcer.

I really don't plan to make any more changes to the texture at this point, but maybe later. :)

I can't believe this is my first time seeing this thread, this looks absolutely amazing! You have done a great job on this mate

This is a huge upgrade to the dinky ninja/robot that we've all grown so accustomed to lol. Think you might make some more basic animations as well, maybe like running/jumping/crouching/attacking?

Anyways, again, excellent job mate. Cant wait to actually check this out when you release it!

That looks excellent :D

Only thing I absolutely cannot stand is the color of his hat lol. The brown used for the sword handles and/or chest straps would look so much better (chest straps are a little dark, but a brown like that would look a lot better on his hat)

Thats my only suggestion XD
