Hah, thought I was dead, did ya?! Nope, I just added an armature to the ogre and will post updates as soon as I have something for you to look at. Sorry for the long absence - moving cross country borders proved to be trickier than expected. :P

Well I certainly did, which I thought was a shame as it was looking great!

Nice! It would be very cool if all Ogre demos could make use of professional looking artwork, and this means a step in the right direction :D

Will it mean an end for the famous flying Ogre head?

Keep us posted!

Looking absolutly great!

I'd find it a bit more funny if his belly sort of hangs over his belt... :)
(and maybe later treat him with an extra bone so that it can bounce a bit when running - like a huge mono breast ^^ )

edit: just saw the date.. maybe its a bit too late?
what are your plans on continuing this work?
do you have time to finish him (like with rig + anims and so?)

Thanks for the support everyone! :D

I'm working on the animations right now and have hopes/plans to try for normal mapping as well, though it would be a first for me and might be slow going. And yes, there already is a bone for bouncing belly anims - great minds think alike!

Yay! Finally I have something to show off - the walk cycle of the ogre! :D

Crits and helpful comments welcome, though keep in mind that I'm not the worlds best animator and there is a limit to what I can do... however, it can only get better, so let me know what you think!

That is cool!
I can see this model walking in a dense forest, with Paged Landscape :)

I know how hard it is to make moves that looks natural; this one is really not far, the only thing I noticed is there is something "asynchronous" with the feet, I don't know if you see what I mean. In the cycle, there's one part smooth, the other one too quick. i'm sure you've already noticed it =)
the rest looks pretty damn good

great job

Friggin' near perfect ! !!
The only thing that bothers me is the head that should stay aligned with the walking direction/stay more independant from the torso... else it's really a GREAT step in the good direction !

Thanks for the feedback, guys, I really appreciate it! I have edited the walkcycle though not made another fraps of it yet - be patient, I'll post it as soon as it's done.

For now, here is a fraps with idle animations - simple breathing, butt-scratch and turning head. I'm especially fond of the eartwitching...

That is absolutely brilliant! This is really great for Ogre and I know everyone appreciates it. I can't wait to see him in some of the real demos. Good work!
