Hello everyone.
My name is Christian (Sweden/Ireland) and together with Ivan (Spain) we are doing a sequel to Tie Fighter.
You can see our game here (this version is in Unity):

Due to some issues with Unity we decided to make a custom engine using Ogre3D and other libraries. We got a basic engine up and running and now we are looking for a dedicated Ogre3D programmer to help us dealing with all coding related to the graphics.
If you want to help out, please send an email to theemperor at starwarssquadrons.com.
You can also contacted us through Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Star-War ... 4530223026
More information about the game can be found in the GDD here: http://www.starwarssquadrons.com/upload ... cument.pdf

I hate to discourage people, but you might want to rethink your domain name considering Disney (nee LucasArts) just announced http://www.starwarsattacksquadrons.com/ today.

To second what ppClarity said, I can't even think about helping you because you're stepping on Disney's toes. (In my mind, that dooms the project, right there.)
I do hope you succeed, as it sounds like you've already done some good work. Oh, and I'd probably buy your game just because it's Star Wars. I'm furious Lucas sold it to Disney, but then I didn't like Episodes 1-3 so I already knew Lucas was just trying to get more money.
Perhaps you could find a more creative way to do it. Example: sell the game under a different name with totally non-Star Wars dialog and textures, but create a mod or expansion pack that changes all the dialog/textures to Star Wars, then leak the mod to a forum somewhere.

I imagine that they aren't going for a commercial release - since that would be impossible on a "reasonable" scale.
The thing is that there are plenty of free Star Wars ship models available, so its handy to have nice assets to start with.

I agree with the concerns you have in regards to the legal matters. Our plan is to continue with the Star Wars theme until we get either an agreement with Disney, or an cease and desist.
Both are actually good for us since it an excellent opportunity to get massive PR and attention.
Now, in case of cease and desist, we will of course not fight in court, but give up the name and the Star Wars theme but continue to develop the game as generic space combat simulator engine. Since our engine is extremely mod friendly from the start, responsibility of the Star Wars theme will be pushed over to the community (we have already key persons from the XWA upgrade project on board).
