"Those Funny Funguloids!" -- v1.06 [+ Linux ver]

Post by mh »

Greetings! I'd like to finally announce our latest game: "Those Funny Funguloids!" :) I'm quoting the official blurb here:

Never before has collecting mushrooms been this mildly entertaining. At least not in outer space. It's more of a lifestyle than a game, really. Now with graphics and sound, too!

It's not completely ready yet, but very close to completion. We just need a couple of sound effects more, and some little adjustments to the code here and there. :P I'd estimate we can release it in a week or two. 8) I did the code and artwork, my friend did the game design and sound effects. My first Ogre game, btw. Thanks to all concerned, Ogre is awesome - this game wouldn't have been possible (for me) without Ogre! :)

In fact, just a moment ago I uploaded the website, so do check it out if you're curious! :) Here are a few hi-res screenshots from the game. There's more on the website. :) Click for a full size view.

Thanks for your time! Comments are always welcome! :)

UPDATE: The game is finished:

Looking good, looking forward to a hands-on :) I'm sure people will find the fact that it's open source useful too.

Thanks, and I hope so! :)

I doubled the amount of background pictures today; the game has two variations of each color now. Here's a sampler of the new blue level:

UPDATE: The documentation is now (almost) written, as is the installer script. Basically what's missing is a couple of sound effects and some testing & tweaking. 8)

mushrooms in space? sure hope they are the special kind! Graphics look awsome, the texturing is very well done and overall the style is very elaborate. Can't wait to play.

They sure are, look at 'em glow! :D Hehe, thank you for your comments! Yep, I'm very pleased with the visuals of this game - I did my first properly UV mapped models here and painted the textures + normal maps too, which was very time consuming but turned out quite nicely. :) From the technical side the game is also my best so far, mostly thanks to Ogre.

ahahaha! you guys have a good sence of humor!
Thanks again. :D Hopefully nobody takes those comments too seriously.. ;)

Status update: It's 99.9% done. 8) With some luck we get it out this weekend. Stay tuned!

Absolutely. :) Well, I cannot do them ports myself, so I'm hoping someone more experienced with Linux / MacOS X / etc. would contribute the builds.. :) All kind of help is welcome!

Congrats ;) your app is pretty portable (at least it seems like).
I only got some problems with two HINSTANCE's but that shouldn't be a too big problem.

One thing i was missing is the ConvertUTF.h file that SimpleIni needs. Maybe you can add that file with the next source release.

Yeah, I tried to make it portable. Seems I missed the HINSTANCEs though.. :)

Strange thing about that ConvertUTF.h. I don't have such file and it builds fine. I'm not using Unicode either since I have SimpleIni to store only basic strings, no special chars etc. which would need UTF.. :? You can however get the ConvertUTF stuff from SimpleIni site, if you need them.

Okay, it was only a minor problem. You just need to move one of your own includes in front of the #if OGRE_PLATFORM == ... then its working.
Really cool game you made there. Congrats.

If someone wants to have the makefile or binary just tell me.

Cool, you got it up and running? Would you mind elaborating what needs to be changed? #Includes in which file? :)
