Shroud Cloth Sim Goes Free

Post by CloakWorks01 »

Hello everyone,

In appreciation for how the Ogre development team and community has helped CloakWorks, I'm please to announce that we are now releasing a free version of the Shroud Cloth Simulation Engine for hobbyists and small independent developers.

Shroud: Basic includes all the functionality you need to add high-quality real time cloth to you 3D PC game or application, including Shroud Studio, C++ headers and static libs, and a sample integration with Ogre based on the sample framework from the Ogre Wiki. You can download it from the CloakWorks web site: http://www.cloak-works.com.

Enjoy! And if you like it please spread the word!

For those of you not familiar with Shroud, here's a video highlighting some of its capabilities:

Where exactly on the site should we be looking for the download link? Is it the "Free Trial"?
Do you need help? What have you tried?

it was under 'Purchase', but I can see how that would be confusing. I renamed it:

Hi all,

I'm afraid we're no longer offering the Basic (free) version of Shroud. There just wasn't enough interest to make the freemium business model work for us, and having the best features limited to the Pro (paid) version put a big limit on the level of quality that could be achieved with the Basic version. We're going to be launching Shroud 2.0 in a couple months as a single version with significant updates and a reasonable price. You can see a preview of what Shroud 2.0 will be offering in Kotaku's coverage at GDC 2012:

We still want this technology in the hands of students, so if you're interested have your professors contact us through the web site http://www.cloak-works.com/contact/ about access to student pricing for your class.

Hi, all.

Guys, did you manage to integrate this library for Ogre's render? Thanks.
