Mr. Planet v2.0

Postby raxo » Thu Nov 23, 2006 3:17 pm

Hi all,
Mr.Planet is augmented reality software with a simple interface for users. The
user is able to link 3D models with his favourite CAD editor (AutoCad, 3D Studio
Max,…) with a great variety of Augmented Reality (AR) patterns. This tool allows
to modify the scale, to rotate the model and to translate it in relation to the
pattern with a simple menu of options. In addition, these models also can
contain animations that will be able to reproduce from the application.

You can download Mr.Planet v2 here! http://planet.urv.es/planetrv/

And I make this video today http://planet.urv.es/planetrv/media/mrplanet.wmv

Screenshots I a few days ;)

Good god... the bottom of my jaw is bruised now...

Very. Very. Well. Done.

@raxo, have you thought about including some elements to the cards so they allow colour recognition and thus light parameters? That would be cool :)
And what about refraction shaders? :D

Wow, great work! Interesting project.

I'm working with AR, too. ( http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16572 ) It's just a webcam plugin, but I'm working on a bigger project. Maybe you will see some screenshots in the end of this year.

How have you managed the capturing from the camera? Have you done it through the ARToolkit?

Yes, we use Artoolkit for recognize image patterns, the architecture of this app support other libraries for positioning models (sensors for example), and in the future I think in implements a library similar to artoolkit (We found problems in this library)

This project is amazing! I couldn't resist to play around with Mr.Planet all day long (although I was supposed to learn for my final exams  ). I just had my lousy web-cam and a low-quality printout of your patterns. However, the pattern recognition worked quite well in most cases.
