Mac version of Walaber's StuntPlayground

Postby seventhkevin » Sat Sep 01, 2007 7:50 am

With Walaber's patient help, I've created a beta of the MacOSX version of StuntPlayground. I'm looking for feedback, and bugs. Don't bother him about this port - I'm sure he's busy enough, and I've bothered him enough :)

Here's a link to a site I placed the .zip file:
http://www.esnips.com/r/hmfl/doc/e01016fd-6d76-4d60-980c-548f0383c39d/StuntPlayground

You'll need to download and install the frameworks from the SDK, such as the pre-built:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ogre/OgreSDK_v1.4.4.dmg
I'm not sure if I want to place the Ogre frameworks within the application package..., so this beta is linked against the frameworks in /Library/Frameworks

Currently, it's set up to run in a window, but just change the ogre.cfg file if you want something different.
Also, let me know if you can't d/l from the link above - I've never used the service before, but needed a place for such a large file.

Thanks,
Kevin

Cool, once I get back on my Mac I'll try this out.

From 1.4.5 we'll no longer be assuming anything is in /Library/Frameworks with the recommended application deployment setup being to include all frameworks in the .app, so the user can drag/drop to install.

Cool! I seriously considering getting a MacBook at some point n the next few months, and this is a great game. I had hours of fun with it on Windows.

Game didn't start straight from the .app-file but I found the executable inside the package and it worked. Nice game. Quite difficult to handle the cars though!

I have 2GHz iMac Intel Core Duo, 2GB memory, Radeon X1600 256Mb
OSX 10.4.10

I'd be interested in the ogre.log file created when it doesn't launch from the .app - I'm trying to imagine what the problem is...

Thanks for trying it.

Beta 2 of the Mac version of StuntPlayground. The Ogre frameworks are now inside the application. I've included the original docs from the PC version, for those who haven't actually played the game before. I'll have to update those docs, but to sum up, instead of the 'control' key its the 'option' key, and the mousewheel doesn't work yet. For zooming, use 'shift'+'option' while moving the mouse.

Thanks - keep the feedback coming!

Beta 3 out now. Details over here:

(Mostly just an updated readme, and saving of arenas and replays outside of the application bundle.)

Beta 4 fixes the CEGUI trying to write a log file back into the Application bundle - redirecting to /Library/Application Support/StuntPlayground. Also, using 1.4.5.

Finally got back around to Stuntplayground for MacOSX. Here is a link to RC1, which I believe, is pretty much the final, unless something unforeseen comes up:
