Over the last two weeks Ogre has been a beehive of activity. Here are a number of notable events:

Our own Assaf Raman has been busy implementing basic CG support in the OpenGL ES 2.0 Render system. He has also taken the time to write “EmbeddedZipArchiveFactory” in OgreZip which allows zip resource embedding in executables and shared libraries.

Choasavy has posted some promising screenshots of a still unnamed 3D space simulation game.

Xavyiy has announced his amazing new Paradise Framework.

Runic Games’ “Torchlight” for XboxLive Arcade was shown at the CES 2011.

CoreDumped added a ScriptCache, an effort to reduce script compiling time of resources which combined with Assaf Raman’s already implemented ShaderCache, can bring down application start-up times considerably.

University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) showed off some impressions and insight of their naval 3D simulator for the Navy of Sri Lanka, named “Vidusayura”.

On a side note: Our papercut initiative is coming along well with many, many submissions, but of course there can never be enough! So keep them coming!

This is a quick update just to highlight a few significant commercial projects which have been added the the Featured Projects section of the Gallery recently:

Haunted by Deck13 – an adventure game by the developers of previous Ogre-based titles Ankh and Jack Keane

Venetica by Deck13 – an action RPG by the same company!

Torchlight by Runic Games – an action RPG by a team which includes the developers of Diablo and Diablo 2

GolfBlaster3D by Datalink SW – a fully 3D professional golfing simulator

We’re very glad to see so many polished products being made with Ogre; in particular it’s great to see experienced teams coming to Ogre and getting great things done with it.
