Up to date layout tutorial?

Hey guys,

Just want to know if there is a step by step and up to date guide on using layouts, the whole concept is completely new to me but it seems better than hard coding everything.

Yes I have, but there are no comments explainging things and it's very hard to follow if you have no experience with it.
