Caelum shadows

I'm using VSM shadows in my current project, and it works fine.. But when adding caelum to the scene, the shadows totally disappear. (I've disabled Caelum's lighting/shadowing, since I'm using my own light at the moment..)

Why does this happen? I'm thinking that it might be related to the shadow scene depth range... maybe some of the Caelum components have receiveShadows / castShadows turned on which will ruin my depth range.. how do I solve this?
