[newbie] ERROR Fatal of Windows: python 2.4 in problems!

Hello everybody,

I am newbie in PyOgre. I must develop a game project for a course. I've got a terrible Error. I read the steps from: http://www.ogre3d.org/wiki/index.php/PyOgre

I downloaded and installed (in order):
*Python 2.4: http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.4.4/ ... .4.4c1.msi
*Psyco: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/psyc ... in-2.4.zip
*PyOgre: http://prdownload.berlios.de/pyogre/pyo ... 0.py24.exe
*Media: http://prdownload.berlios.de/pyogre/demo_media.zip

And I had a dll error, then I installed:

*vcredist_x86: http://faux.warwickcompsoc.co.uk/vcredist

And I have Win XP Professional SP2.
I installed everyone in F:\python24\

Because I only I want test OpenGL, I comment the Direct3d Option in F:\Python24\Lib\site-packages\pyogre\plugins.cgf:

# Plugin=RenderSystem_Direct3D9

When I go to folder:
F:\Python24\pyogre\tutorials and I run beginner_1.py or other example I have a strange error: First, I open the file with IDLE; Then, I run the example, and I see a screen for selects only the Open GL Rendering System;

Then I selects it, Finally I see a black screen, a pause, and I see a typical message of Windows XP System : "Pythonw.exe has encountered a problem, and needs to close". In the detail, there a lot of dlls.

I prove it with my own example, and I got the same. I installed the Ogre SDK for VC and I got the same.

I don´t know what I must do, I need develop the game, I am newbie, and I need practice the PyOgre.

Please somebody Help me!!!.

Please help me, perhaps it is a fool error, but I don´t know what I must do.

The screens are:

1. I selects the Open GL option, and appears:



2. Then appears the next fatal error, and I don´t know whtas the problem, did I forget any step??

The error message doesn't really help. Try running from command prompt and/or manually importing ogre as suggested here:
http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2addons/viewtopic.php?t=2490

The original pyogre1.0.6 binaries were for pyhton2.4.3, so I don't know if that's causing a problem.

I encountered the same with Python 2.4.3; and when I run it from the cmd, is the same. I dont know what I must do.

And then I obtain the same error : "python has encountered....".

I followed every step. but nobody can help me!.

Please any help, what I must install????

From your log it looks like the problem may be with your graphics card or drivers. Check here for minimum hardware requirements for ogre:

http://www.ogre3d.org/wiki/index.php/Hardware

You could try commenting out #Plugin_CgProgramManager and not running in fullscreen mode but I dont think that will make any difference. You may want to search/ask on the main forum regarding S3 Graphics cards.

My problem was my hardware, my graphic card. With ProSavage, there isn´t any solution. I had to buy another graphic card! (ATI).
