Walaber's Trampoline
final (?) beta release

-- i posted this in the main forum as well, but I want to make sure i get as many testers as possible so I'm adding it here as well.

this is the "final" beta release of my game "Walaber's Trampoline" before the official release. Basically everything is in and should be working, except for some minor tweaking, and a few missing sound files. I am releasing this beta to get feedback on the game one last time before release.

If you have some time, please download the game, and give it a quick test for me! most of all I want to make sure the game runs on people's systems, and that there are no big crash bugs.

so, without further ado, here is the download link:
PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THIS VERSION - this is NOT the final release version of the game. thanks :)

Your webhost is sending the msi file as raw text, rather then binary/application or whatever the mime type was...

If you don't have access to your webhost to fix it, a simple ".htaccess" file specifying the mimetype override would fix it.

I have modified the .htaccess file, but it's still not working. I'll make sure it's fixed eventually. for now you must choose "save as" yourself.

Assuming your webhost has mod_mime setup (it should, it is near required for apache to run, plus it comes with every apache install), then this one single line added to the .htaccess of the folder the .msi is in, or any parent folder, should work:
AddType application/x-msi msi

What did you put in?

EDIT1: Also, do note, depending on your browser, once you make the change it may need to flush its cache as most generally remember the mimetype of a recently viewed file.

EDIT2: Since I am now home, I downloaded it by clicking on it, seems to work whatever you did, so yea, if it is not working for you yet, your browser may still have it cached.

EDIT3: Yep, even works fine in IE, just tested. Also, is it just me, or is the download extremely slow, normally I remember walaber.com being faster, but I am usually downloading smaller files too. The speed seems capped to 170kbps

yeah I checked it here, and it seems to be working fine now.

There is a default mime-type for unset files, for you host it seems to be text, should be changed to binary so browsers will try to download it instead of display it. Don't remember where to set that as the default usually is binary anyway (has been for all my installs).
