I have given each object its own animation name via the oFusion menu/Object option, however when I export there is only a "Walk" animation in the list of animations (there is no "Walk" animation in my scene)

From the "Object Properties" page of the "Working with Scenes" chapter of the User's guide

Object animation base name
If defined, the system will generate separate animations for the selected objects with this base name. i.e. If you define "objectSet01" in this edit box and in the exporter GUI there are two animations to be exported, called "cut_scene" and "crowd_path" , the animation for the object or the multiple objects with this setting will be generated as a separate set, with the names "objectSet01_cut_scene" and "objectSet01_crow_path". If the edit box is blank, the object animation(s) will be part of the global scene animations.

This animation name (in the object setings panel) is used to separate the objects that are assigned this name (can be single or a group if you need) from the global animation produced, then in your application you can control the animation of this object(s) independ of the global animations

This option creates a separate animation using the name set in the object properties panel, plus the name of the animations in the exporter UI

In the export UI create or edit the animations to your needs, double click on an animation on the list to edit it, or double click on an empty space (of this animation list) to add animations

LightAnimtest
bobAnimtest

I called the animation in the export box test and got it to do this which is good enough

I couldnt find your quote in your docs, but the picture of the animation in the export section shows a number of animation names, so between your docs and explanation I'm now more confused

I'll just call the animation in the animation dialog Anim and the object animations by their object names I should then end up with

LightAnim
bobAnim

but I'm obviously missing somthing...

maybe the animation dialog in the exporter should be labeled animation ranges?....

It's in the .chm docs, if you go to the short cuts in the left column. The animation dialogue stuff is mentioned in:

Working with scenes/object properties

I was kind of expecting the object defined anim to appear in the anim list of the exporter to be honest. Is that whats confusing you chris?

I'm about to look at anim some more shortly, but need the new version of ofusion. The current one is a pain with instances and animated doors, the xForms get messed up easily.
