Texture Modulative shadows? Fog?

Chris

Im having major problems getting those to work. Ogre demo has it working well, but I cannot at all reproduce the effect myself, nor do I know which demo scripts to check to get the reply.

Stencil shadows work, texture modulative ones dont and Ive tried different light objects and settings.

Could someone PLEASE create a max file that has everything set with Texture Modulative shadows working so I could test if there is something I am doing wrong?

Also, how can I make fog? I mean this common fog that is visible in most games? I noticed there are some Fog related settings but I was not able to produce any visible fog, must be something I cannot spot right now.

Fog is enabled in the newest update, hope it will be available in the current week

This is good news, thanks :)

But any info on Texture Modulative shadows? Could someone upload a simple Max scene that has working texture modulative shadows so I could see if it is my hardware issue or not?

Since nobody seems to be willing to help, I uploaded a max scene that 'should' have texture modulative shadows, yet they dont display on my PC nor in ogre.

Please check it out and tell me if you see the texture modulative shadows there or not? If not, then I would like to know what I am doing wrong? If you do see shadows, then I am surprised and out of questions because I just dont know what to do then.

Thank you

Oh come on, someone, please? Test the scene and tell me if you see shadows there or not. I do not know who else to turn to.

The hardware we use here dont support Texture Shadows, so i cant test your scene

I've got a 6600GT and that doesn't seem to work. Don't know if its supposed to but the stencil shadows do work.

With the texture mod shadows, don't you need to render the shadows to textures first for lightmaps? A la http://ofusion.inocentric.com/tutorial4.html

Ermm, no I dont think so? Texture baking and lightmaps should not be related to texture modulative shadows at all. Though I may be wrong here of course. I tried that lightmap tutorial and didnt get any shadows with Texture Modulative either.

Evak, thanks for the reply. Yes stencil shadows work for me as well, but texture modulative doesnt. Hardware is X800XL, and it displays all shadows in Ogre Demo shadows.

Does any of you have a max file that actually has texture modulative shadows actually working? I would love to test that, maybe see whats wrong.'

speaking of shadows could you add cast and receive per object settings? I notice they are in the xml but I can't see how to set them from max.

they are there if you right click on an object and select the properties menu, you can choose whether that mesh casts or recieves. They are in the check boxes.

I'm looking forward to the release of Dagon so we can make use of the visibility track too.

Evak, are you capable of producing Texture Modulative shadows in ofusion? If yes then could you save the scene and upload it and give a link? Or send to my email perhaps? (degen@solo.ee)

So it makes me wonder.. Has 'anyone' actually managed to get Texture Modulative shadows to work with oFusion?

Chris

Well? has anyone got it to work actually? Considering that no one has come forward and uploaded actually working texture modulative shadows scene, Im beginning to think oFusion has some serious bug in it.

Devs confirm that texture modulative actually works or not?

I hate to bump this thread but really, I feel this issue is being ignored bigtime. Will texture modulative shadows at least work in the next version?

We cant test this as the hardware used here dont support it

I will try to review this as soon as possible, please understand that as much as i want to solve your issue, i need the hardware support first

Ah alright, hopefully this will be tested and implemented properly in the future.

I can confirm that stencil shadows work in oFusion, but not texture shadows.

Also, if you're looking for a very cheap solution to not having the hardware support, get a GeForce 6200. I have one and even though it's slow compared to almost everything else, it at least supports a good number of advanced features and runs fast enough when creating small scenes.
