Animated Mesh Deforms (explodes) in oFusion Viewport

We are creating an animated character for a game project and the character apears properly in both the max and ofusion viewport until we add bones/envelopes to the skin.

At this point the model still looks fine in max while animated but in ofusion the model is torn apart with polygons being stretched over an area of hundreds of metres (the model is suppoed to be 2m tall).

We have already tried applying an x-form to the mesh and reseting the transform and scale.

Any help is apreciated.
