Multiple animations in 3ds max

I downloaded a 3d model pack to use and it is great. I can texture them and export each using OFusion. But i have a problem... each of my animations is in a seperate .scene file. So i have one scene of my guy idle... then another with my guy running etc.

My question is how can i export each animation to an existing mesh? or how can i put all the animations into one scene file... so i can export animation 1 as frames 1-10 animation 2 ase 11-20 etc. Right now i am using one mesh per animation and it looks fine but im betting its going to take up more memory as i begin to have a lot of animations. Plus it would just be more convenient.

I am a complete beginner to 3ds. Please forgive my inexperience with Max.

I am using:
Ogre Eihort
3ds Max 8
LEXIExport 1.0.5

Thank you in advance to anyone who helps =).

edit: ive exported all the animations into .bip files. But i still cant get them into the same .scene file.

We support oFusion only

Probably you need to ask on other specific forum or directly to the people that produces the tool you are using

I am ALSO using lexi exporter as well as oFusion but both require that i do something like this (put all the animations into one file for export). I really used lexi to see if it would fix this problem (which it didn't).

@jojomi i have tried this already but it seems that if i use the motion mixer all the IK movement is lost... I used IK to have one hand follow a gun that the other is holding. The gun holding hand sits idly by. Is there another way besides the motion mixer to just copy animations? The animations work properly when i just load them onto a biped but not whenever i use the motion mixer.

What kind of skeleton for your mesh? biped or bone?
Motion mixer just copy animations, and just copy biped animation only,so IK unable use....
Load all *.bip to motion mixer after, use "Select and Link" command to the gun that follow one hand, may be can get the result that you want.

biped i believe

Load all *.bip to motion mixer after, use "Select and Link" command to the gun that follow one hand, may be can get the result that you want.

im not exactly sure how to do this... could you please explain in a bit more detail =(

is there a way to do this that might keep the IK?

Maybe i can export each animation individually then combine them together somehow in Ogre?

I see that there is a merge animation option in the file menu. I am messing around with this right now but i can't get the desired results. Maybe this option is more suited than the mixer?

Allright....
1.You have "some animations is in a seperate .scene file" isn't ?Yes,you should export each animation individually first.Choose one animation.scene file export *.bip file.Look as this screenshot:example, you can save a "stand.bip" file,or "walk.bip" etc....

2.Load all *.bip to motion mixer. Now,open a .scene file that you want to
combine animated .Look as this screenshot:you can load stand.bip,walk.bip...use motion mixer.

3.This way i use ofusion.... After load all *.bip that you want.Select mesh and then export Ofusion Scene,
you export animation walk as frames 0-30 animation stand as 31-60 etc.

That is all...

first of all thank you for the very helpful and detailed reply =).

all of my animations are perfect now.

except the left arm:

correct:

wrong:

i believe that the error has to do with the fact that it (the left hand) is supposed to be linked to the gun object. I think that if i follow this step which you already mentioned then it will be fixed:

use "Select and Link" command to the gun that follow one hand, may be can get the result that you want.

this is the part i am unsure of how to do. Where is this "Select and Link" Ive looked all over the IK settings for it. I just need to know how to link the hand back onto the gun prop.

When i move the gun object around the left hand follows it when linked properly so i believe that if i can recreate this link it will work perfectly

Thank you very much for your patience.

:D
What kind of IK do you use ?
Usually,ik unalbe use to biped.
How can you use IK let one hand follow the gun?

"Load all *.bip to motion mixer after, use "Select and Link" command to the gun that follow one hand, may be can get the result that you want."
This mean is remove IK,use "Select and Link" let the gun follow one hand.
Move the arm, the gun also moves.

Sigh the select and link option didn't work either...

Ive PMed you with the scenes i believe its easier for a beginner like myself to do so rather than trying to explain.
