Hi, I've just installed the new ofusion exporter (1.8.6) and now files that were taking 30secs to export are taking 5mins??? anyone know why this might be happening? or experiencing anything similar?

Cheers

In any case it should be faster

Are you using any vertex animation?

Could you provide a sample scene that takes more to export than the previous?

hmmmm. I seem to have fixed it. The problem was caused by some objects apparently having vertex animation on them even though they had no keyframes in max, i hadn't intended for there to be vertex animation and the export wasn't set to export animations.

I reset their pivots (they weren't centred to the object) and then reset the xform and exported them fine. So I don't really know whether this was just an issue of moving from one version to the next?

I found that if you have a large modifier stack this can slow things down a lot and effect the size of the mesh file. One of my scenery meshes has a lot of modifiers in. Not only was it slow but it produced a 8.7mb mesh.

collapsing the stack produced the same visuals but only 760k mesh, and took a fraction of the time to export. I like to keep my stack till I'm 100% happy, but it is interesting how much difference a clean mesh is when it comes to exporting.

I tend to keep my meshes collapsed anyway, I'm not really sure where the vertex animation was coming from so i'll just have to keep a bit of an eye out when I'm doing things in the future.
