Sorry if this has been posted but I cant find anything relating to this.

I have a scene in 3ds max Ofusion that has an office. You are looking through the window in to another part of the office, you can see everything in the office but you cant see any walls. This is stumping me! I cant figure it out. Just like the interior walls are nothing and table and chairs are there and you can see right through out to the other side where the next set of windows are. side walls are invisible. I have checked the glass textures many times and not settings seem to work. I was thinking it might be the wall texture that is doing it. But haven't found anything yet.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Any ideas would be great. I can post screenshots if need be.

hmm, do you have more than one layer of transparency that your looking for? How are you doing the window glass, are the windows a seperate mesh?

Have you tried testing it on a simple scene, might help to post a basic scene that shows the effect on here. What you describe sounds like some kind of alpha sorting issue to me.

I have a basic scene. Has a bunch of textures.
The scene is composed of say the windows, doors, walls and furniture.
However what I am looking at is a window that is one object with one transparent texture and a wall behind the glass which is another object.

I have come across this problem before and thought I solved it. In another scene all together it seems to come and go. Sometimes it looks right through everything and I can see the background, like its some kind of x-ray or something.

But this office scene is just some transparent glass with one reflection map on it and a wall behind which gets hidden by the glass when viewed through the glass.

I can post pictures in about 7-8 hours of this post. I have to go to bed now.

Thanks for replying, I will check back in a few hours with screenshots.

Its probably because the walls are a single object (the room) and the window is not in front of it (its aabb), the object sort (rendering order) cant be made on polygons but on complete objects

If you post the screenshots and more details, the issue might be identified, but from your description it might be an rendering sort issue
