Hi there, I'm new to the forum, so apologies in advance if this had been addressed in the past.
I have a scene with multiple instances of an animated mesh object. To optimize the scene, instead of using several copies of the mesh in the scene, I cloned the original mesh using the instance option. Here is where the problem starts.
1) I first parented the original mesh to a "dummy" helper object, then cloned the whole hierarchy (dummy helper + cloned geometry) and moved it to the required locations. Although the copies show up properly in the ofusion viewport, once I "play" the animation, all the cloned instances disappear and only the original instance can be seen moving. Thats in the ofusion viewport. In 3DS Max's viewports, however, all the clones still appear where I placed them. Exporting the scene only loads the original mesh without the instanced copies.
2) Alternatively, I tried parenting the animated mesh to small box mesh (to act as a proxy dummy". Again, the copies disappear from the ofusion view port but remain where I placed them in 3DS max's viewport once I click play. But when I export it, I am able to see all the copies I created. So somehow the ofusion viewport is not updating properly, but is able to export.
*Note in both instances I manually cleared and updated the ofusion viewport to no effect
So I have a few questions and comments:
a) Does ogre/the ofusion editor support Max's "dummy" helper objects?
b) there seems to be some updating issues with "instanced" clones being rendered in the ofusion viewport....or am I missing a step?
Hope someone can share their experience or any solutions to this problems, thanks!
