Problems with animation

I'm having some nasty problems with biped animation. I have created a biped skeleton for a rocketman model. I havent used any exotic modifiers on it, havent used mirroring and havent put any modifiers above the physique modifier. The only thing i did was resize the bones in figure mode and assign vertices to appropriate bones by selecting them and using assign to link button. I'm thinking that maybe this is the problem, that maybe I should use envelopes instead, but I prefer the direct assignment way since it's alot easier then using envelopes and the animation looks great in max that way. So whats the proper way to do it?

The models look quite ugly both in my game and in oFusion viewport.

Thnks Liorik, youre the man :D

It works well now though if there is more then two bone assignments for a vertex the mesh looks flat, but that is easy to fix though :)
