character: strafing

Hi, I added strafing to the movement of the character from the tutorial. I just changed the value from setting x velocity to setting z velocity, but that makes the character shake alot and change direction. I have no idea why this happens when there is nothing different but the axis that gets velocity. Has anyone done it and knows how to fix this?
