Porting from windows to linux

Hi All, i'm new to the Ogre engine.
I'm searching for a solution about that problem: we need to deploy an application that uses Ogre 3D to Linux. But, the main code must be written in a Windows environment because i have not linux programming experience AT ALL :cry:
I was thinking to use Mogre in windows and let the linux port made by a friend of mine (a linux guy), using mono. But i think is not possibile. Am i right?
What could i use to develop a 3d interface with ogre in windows environment and port it to linux? I think C++ is too platform oriented.
