is there any program to convert maya scenes or ogre meshes to nxs? Flour seems to take only flower files.
But flour CAN convert ogre meshes (.mesh) to .nxs

I tried to and it gave me some stuff about not recognizing the format. The instructions explicitly say that only flower to nxs is supported. So it would seem the only way to go would be to convert to flower and then to nxs but since flower seems to be a relatively obscure format, there doesn't seem to be any way to convert any widely used format to it.
This is for maya 2009 btw

so how do you convert mesh to xml or mb to xml? Sorry for the questions but none of these steps are easy to find.

If there is an Ogre Maya exporter, then it should export as a .mesh.xml (an XML file), the ruby converter then can convert it into a flower file for you, if you need help with the ruby part, I'll help you out.
I would actually write flower exporter for Maya myself, but since I don't have a copy - I can't.

I'm still searching but it seems the exporter simply converts the mb directly to mesh or does something with the xml file before the user can get to it.
If you need somebody to test whether an exporter works in 2009 I can do it.

Also; there may be a PhysX Maya NXS exporter. NxOgre can read NXS files directly.

They're still 'working' on the official physX plugin for maya 2009. It doesn't help that they come out with a new version of maya every year. I'm sure something must be out there somewhere though since without a working physics solution maya would be useless for many of the things you'd typically have it for.

Urgh. Well if it helps, you could export your mesh to an obj file, load it into Blender then use the Blender Flower exporter.
Otherwise; You could find a really old version of flour on the forums (pre 0.4) and convert the .mesh that way.

have you considered getting the learners or whatever evaluation version they're offering? I think there are free versions of both Max and maya. If I recall the time you can use it is limited but it should be plenty of time for someone who can cook up Nxogre.

I had no idea there was such versions, I'll look into it.
Problem is though, once my trial is up then I can't support any future updates for the exporter.

Well, as I'm sure you're aware, Autodesk likes selling incrementally upgraded products as much as Paris Hilton likes changing clothes so you should be able to upgrade flour to the new versions every year.
