The topic title says it all. If you have a project using NxOgre, we want to see it! Try and keep your posts descriptive, and hold back on the gigantic screenshots. Links to project sites are always nice. If you know of a project using NxOgre, that's not yours- feel free to mention something you've seen.

Hey guys. Hows it going. I am currently in my last semester at a vidoe game school in Toronto, Canada. We are doing a video game based on a new video game review show that is coming out here. It will be coming out this fall on global for all you canadians (LOL). There are three girls that reveiw these games and we have to use the girls as our main characters in our game.

Our game has three levels. Each level is based on one of the girls and they're favorite genre. We have a sports level, puzzle level, and an FPS level. The sports level is a trip in to the past. We're using the roman coliseum and our gamer girl has to fight several gladiators, a couple tigers, and a boss to pass this level. In the puzzle level our gamer girl has to go through a maze, jump on to several platforms, and complete a block puzzle where you have to push/pull the blocks into correct position so you can pass on to the next room, where the boss is. The FPS level is based in an Urban city. You basically have to get to the end of the level with out getting killed and beat the boss. The game will also have an online multiplayer that will take place in the FPS level. Up to 12 playable characters in the online multiplayer.

Our team consists of about 14 students. We have four programmers. I am the programming lead. We have 7 artists. Aswell as 3 students implementing sound. We have been working on the game for about two months so far. Thats about the same time i moved from ogreNewt to nxOgre. Our game is due at the end of September. We have an alpha deadline next week and a beta deadline two weeks later. Our game will be reviewed by the gamer girls and will be available on their site for download for free. Ogre will be mentioned in the credits of our manual as well as on the show, ie. the engines we used for this game.

I will have a link soon to a site you can view the current screenshots, short clips, concept art, and code we are using in the game. There will also be a blog about the trials and errors we have gone through creating this game.

Those are some really cool sounding projects so far. I'm going to check them all out (the websites) and give a more in-depth commentary on them . Keep em coming I say! I'm very curious to see how many people are using NxOgre and how they're doing it, as I'm sure Betajaen is.

The project I'm working on is a game based on UK Banger Racing, very briefly for those that don't know what Banger Racing is, it involves getting an old road car, stripping it of everything except the drivers seat and anything needed to actually drive it, bolting shut the doors, boot and bonnet, adding a roll cage and full harness seat belt, then racing it around a small oval track where it's encouraged that you try to wreck your opponents by driving into them as hard as possible, the winner is either the 1st person to do a set number of laps or the last car moving.

I'm very new to the world of programming so I'm learning it as I go but I'm happy with the way it's going so far even if it is early days for the project. Thanks to the wonderful work that people have put into Ogre, NxOgre etc for making this all possible for me and also making things relatively easy for a newbie like me!

Cheers everyone :D

Yes very cool idea. In France we named this kind of racing "Stock car", Near my town there are two stock car racing by year. It is very funny when old car crash and take fire.

Hi there,
I am in an MSc Computer Games Technology course in University of Abertay in Dundee,Scotland. I am part of a group project to make an RTS game that is loosely based on Lego. We have a kitchen level made in Max where the RTS takes place, its beginning to take shape now! We have to have it due for the end of April/start of May so its gonna be getting close to crunch time soon!

Anyway there is a team of 6 programmers however we have no artist(as of yet,we're working on it). At the moment my main job involves getting the influence map setup. For this I needed to setup the pathfinding nodes and need to use raycasting to evaluate whether a node is walkable or not. We're using DotSceneOctree scene manager and the regular RaySceneQuery doesn't work for that(without a lot of work) so we've decided to go for NxOgre and use that as a physics engine. Haven't really got it setup as of yet(and the samples keep bluescreening my laptop!!) but can post regular updates if people are interested. We've also looked into using OgreOde with the DotScene instead of NxOgre and it looks like both plugin reasonably well but Ageia swung it for us and the fact its widely used in industry!

Apart from that other people at the moment are working on sound(using a library called fmod I think its called), picking(needs NxOgre to work to raycast properly), finite state machine design, combat mechanics and pathfinding. We have basic unit loading functionality worknig and the dotScene octree loading correctly so at least we have some eye-candy working!

Game title : Blok Wars
Software : 3ds max 8
Visual Studio 2005
Photoshop
loads other stuff I can't think of at the moment!

SDKs:
Ogre
NxOgre
DotSceneOctree Ogre add-on
Fmod
Maybe Raknet at a later stage time permitting

In my project, groups of boxes connected by motorisedjoints are supposed to represent organisms - I want them to learn how to run.

My plan is to create a few dozen copies of an organism, slightly vary the way they move their limbs and the lengths of the limbs, give them 15 seconds to spaz around on the ground, select the boxgroups which moved the furthest, create a few copies of each, vary them all slightly, and repeat the process all over again. Then hopefully in a few hundred generations or so there should be some nice runners.

Not much of a game, but after going through a 3 year university course in games technology I've learnt the hard way to set nice, easy, achievable goals. :P

Game Title : The Corrupted
Genre : First Person Survival Horror

This was a game my section did for school for our final term. We had 12 weeks to do everything from concept through gold. There's a little bit of tweaking that I plan on doing once nxOgre 0.9 is released.

I'll post a link to it when it's all set up =).

I'm also going to start working on a solo project. May take me a while, but from the learning experience I had with The Corrupted, I'd imagine that I should be able to program it quite a bit faster and cleaner.

Wow, that's pretty damn good. I noticed the Scythe wind turbine in there, did you make an importer for it, or is it from somewhere else?

Either way, very good job!

No Sir, all this is done by my student and me.

All models build with max r9. Meshes where exported with oFusion. Scene information and physical data where exported with a maxscript-tool i wrote (inspired from OgreExporter and Octupus).
In short: You see the intro made with max. Blend to the server visualisation. You see scripted event like rotation of windwheel, barrel and doors. The same later is made with physics. All Boxes an barrels and most of the buildings are physical objects. This is calculated on a PhysicsServer i wrote on top on NxOgre. If you see a reduced scene you see the physicsserver. When you see 2 monitors or the HMD your see a network renderer only renders pictures. There are no physics or something else done on this computers. You see a passive stereo projection on the HMD.
... too long ;-)
I work on a better film...

Nice!

This is clearly a frustum culling problem. I had the same problem with Ogre Dagon when I was trying to move the nodes inside another thread that Ogre's one but I don't think you're doing the same....
Can you display the bounding box of your terrain? Are you using PSLM2 or the Terrain Manager?

I just watched the first minute, I had to pause it, and post in here and say "HOLY CRAP!".

I'm going to watch the rest now.

[Edit]

I had to pause it again when they started climbing the cliffface whilst attached to the rope.

For the love that is good and holy; post in the main showcase forum. Your going to get a lot of fans; me included.

p.s. Can I have your jumping, climbing and water code ;)

Hello, people!
We're close to release a demo soon so i think it's time to show something here :)

We're working on: ThunderWheels a game with top-down perspective with a gameplay similar to Ironman off-road racer, slicks'n slides etc, but adding some elements like money to buy and sell cars, player concept, networking, track editor etc.... it is a mix between GT and Ironman...

YouTube video (all images are in-game and vehicles are AI driven):
turn on your sound !! ThunderWheels Teaser #0 and more videos here...
