Once again I’m going to cherry-pick a few items from our ever-active community to highlight here on the news page, and this time I’m concentrating on the tools landscape. Many people have seen the opportunity to take advantage of Ogre’s tightly defined scope and integration friendliness, to combine it with other libraries and their own code to create a range of tools. Here’s a quick summary list of those that have emerged or have had updates in the last couple of months, either for Ogre or just using Ogre:
This is just a selection of the tools that are coming out of the community, be sure to browse the forums to keep an eye on the full range of activity out there. Also remember to check the Addons Forum for discussions about the many add-on libraries you can use with Ogre.

{mosimage}Deck 13 have announced that their new OGRE-based title, Ankh – Heart of Osiris, has now gone gold! Ankh – Heart of Osiris is the follow-on to Deck 13’s award-winning adventure game Ankh which was released early this year. Deck 13 are also working on another title using OGRE, Jack Keane, due for release in 2007.
We’d like to say congratulations to all at Deck 13 for their fine work.

{mosimage}Pacific Storm, the game from Lesta Studio which fuses war gaming, real-time strategy and arcade action and uses OGRE for rendering, has now been released at retail in North America, published by CDV Software Entertainment USA.
Congratulations to Lesta Studio, who are based in Russia, for completing this milestone. There are now official sites on the web for Pacific Storm in German and French too.

{mosimage}“Pro OGRE 3D Programming”, by Gregory Junker (aka ‘Xavier’ in the forums) and published by Apress, is out next week! The publication date is 25th September in the USA and hopefully it should reach other regions shortly afterwards. “Pro OGRE 3D Programming” is the first published book dedicated to the subject of learning OGRE, and is aimed at fairly proficient developers who are newcomers to OGRE. Congratulations to Greg for getting the book done, we hope it will be useful to many OGRE users.
