We're pleased to make another maintenance release available for those using the stable version of OGRE, Azathoth (v1.0.x). The main source release, SDKs and command line tools have been updated and are available from the Downloads page as per usual. The bugfixes and non-interface breaking changes in this release are described in the full detail of this news posting.
For those of you using the unstable Dagon (v1.1.x) version, please note that fixes applied to Azathoth are merged periodically into Dagon, but that there may be a day or two delay in some cases. Once again, details of the Dagon roadmap, porting notes and progress log can be seen in the wiki to allow you to see what you'll be getting, and what code changes will be required. Dagon shaping up nicely but is still a couple of months away from official release yet, although early adopters can of course get it from CVS.

Ten Ninjas Game Development
has released the commercial version of their action-packed 3D space
shooter, Axiomatic. The game features super-fast dogfighting action
with intense explosions, set amongst a series of lushly coloured space
scenes. Check out the Featured Projects area for new screenshots, or download the free demo from http://ten-ninjas.com.
In recognition of the major role Ogre played in the development of
Axiomatic, TNGD has pledged a $2US donation out of a $15US purchase
price for every sale originating from this website. Make sure you use
the links above for the donation to take effect.

Fragfist, a multiplayer 3D action game featuring vehicles has now been added to the Featured Projects area. It was written by a student team at the Berlin Games Academy, and is due to be presented at the Games Convention '05 in Leipzig next week. Incredibly they developed this in 4 months with just one coder, 3 artists and a sound guy!
You can also follow the team's announcements, and download a demo, in this forum thread.

Manuel has written a useful set of classes to make it simpler to use postfiltering effects in OGRE, and I've collated some screenshots
posted in the forums from Manuel, supersuper and :wumpus: showing it
in action. It has been possible to use these effects in OGRE for some
time, but Manuel's work makes it a lot simpler to plug them in. The
code is available in this forum thread;
an updated version will probably be integrated into the core before the
next version since a lot of people will find it useful.

I recently added D4MD
(deformed) to the Featured Projects area; it's a vehicle simulator
running on OGRE with a CAVE interface, and features dynamic mesh
deformation based on collisions. Panels buckle, glass smashes, it looks
very realistic indeed. There is also a short video sequence available
from the D4MD forum thread. Amazingly, this was the work of a 2-person team on a final year computer engineering course.
