RenderMonkey to OGRE .material Exporter

Veritable Soft has just released an exporter for ATI's RenderMonkey
shader editor to the OGRE .material script format. After installing the
plugin, you can right-click on the RenderMonkey tree and export the
selection to OGRE, creating .material scripts, exporting shader
programs and the bindings required to them, and textures all ready to
go in OGRE.

Note that CVS users do not need to apply the OGRE patch on Veritable's
website since support for the additional shader autoparameters it needs
has already been added.

New Downloads

We've just added a couple of new downloads for your delectation:

  • Magic of Stonehenge
is a rather nice demo / screensaver from Troglodit featuring dynamic
lightmapping, nice particle effects and sound using Audiere. It also comes with source
    code.
  • A Dev-C++ DevPak has been contributed by joshcryer to help out those users running Dev-C++

We hope you enjoy!

We’re now accepting donations

The OGRE Project is now accepting donations. Why now, after 4 years?
Well, we felt we should have a funding goal before accepting donations,
and somehow it didn't feel right until we'd released 1.0.0, our first
non-beta release.

Our funding goals are simple – as OGRE grows we have more demanding web
hosting requirements and that costs money. In addition, now that OGRE
has hit the big 1.0.0 and there are impressive projects being released,
we feel it's the right time to think about wider promotion.

So, if you've benefitted from using OGRE and would like to give
something back (other than helping others and contributing patches,
which is still probably the best way to contribute), we'd appreciate any donation, large or small.

Forums hacked

2 of the forums, ‘General Discussion’ and ‘Recruitment’ have had their contents emptied by some worthless little squit(s) with too much time on their hands.

We appear to have become a target for those who think it’s clever to waste other people’s time. With any luck they’ll boast about this to someone who can pass on information to those who can give them the right royal kicking they deserve. If I catch you, your family jewels are going into orbit.

There may be some temporary lapses in service of the OGRE website whilst we sort out this mess, which of course stops us working on more important things. Apologies to our real users, and a thousand festering boils on those who no doubt feeling a pathetic kind of satisfaction over doing this.
