A couple of bugs in the config dialog sneaked their way into the 0.96b release. I didn’t do much testing on this dialog, instead spending all my time on the engine itself. However it has turned out to be a weak link, causing a few crashes which is very irritating because it’s nothing wrong with the engine itself. Here’s a couple of tips:
- If ‘Full Screen = Yes’ is selected in the options (actually the default if you have a fresh install), make sure you set a video mode lower down. Failure to do so will crash the startup process and the config dialog may fail to load after that. If this happens to you, delete the ogre.cfg file to reset the settings and make sure you select a video mode if you select fullscreen mode in the future.
- If you select an option value in the drop-down box, then select another one straight afterwards without clicking on the options list again, the config dialog may crash. Always click on the listbox option you want to change directly before changing the setting in the combo
I’ve fixed both these bugs (and a few other non-critical things) in CVS and they will be in the next release. For now, please accept my apologies for not properly testing this trivial but crucial dialog!
I’ve had about almost 2000 downloads of the source and demos since the release, so if anyone else out there has found bugs, please report them in the Forums.
