{mosimage}Good news, bisco has kindly released a new version of the Maya exporters (for 6.5, 7 and 8), which you can get from the Tools download area. The main changes in this version are listed in the full detail of this post. Big thanks as usual go to bisco for continuing to provide support and updates for the exporter.

In other exporter-related news, there will be a new exporter for 3DS Max appearing in CVS very soon. Called LEXIExporter, it's a native plugin rather than the Maxscript exporter we've provided in the past and over time and we hope should be much more artist-friendly, being as it it developed by the guys at ITE.dk (responsible for the Agent Hugo game posted in the Showcase forum a little while back) in close partnership with their art team. Again, we're very grateful to them for investing considerable time in improving the suite of tools for Ogre.

There have been an awful lot of exciting announcements in the community lately, new projects being shown off and products going gold all over the place – it's been a while since my last 'community update' to highlight these but rest assured, I'll be gathering together a wrap-up of the goings on soon.

Maya exporter updates:

– fixed crash on shared geometry creation on some
meshes
– fixed vertex bone assignements
normalization
– added global rescaling of the scene
– avoided ogre root creation
– some fixes on bounding boxes
– fixed texture scale attribute
– checking for dupllicate clip names
– fixed bug on animation clip names
– added option to exclude animations from bounding
boxes
