OGRE at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

{mosimage}HerrCron sent word that this year 4 projects using OGRE have been constructed as part of the annual Dare to be Digital competition, the UK’s premier video game competition for students. All 4 projects, after 10 weeks in development, will be presented in prototype form at Dare Protoplay, a hands-on interactive exhibit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, running throughout 12th-14th August. It’s completely free so if you’re attending the festival or are just in the area, drop by Our Dynamic Earth which is the venue for the event.

You can read more in this forum thread. Best of luck to all the teams taking part!

OGRE 1.4.3 [Eihort] Released!

{mosimage}It’s that time again for a point release for the stable v1.4 branch aka Eihort. We’ll keep doing these releases approximately every 4-6 weeks so long as there are fixes worth pushing out on that schedule. Full details of the changes in this release are to be found in the full text of this article.

As usual you can find the updated source and SDK releases via the downloads section of the site. Check the version number of SDKs before you download them as some SDKs may not be quite up to date yet, they will be updated as soon as the maintainer in question provides an update.

Sourceforge Community Choice Awards – Final Voting!

{mosimage}Thanks to everyone who nominated us for the Sourceforge Community Choice Awards this year! We’ve been nominated in 4 (wow!) categories, "Best Project For Multimedia", "Best Project for Gamers", "Best User Support" and "Best Technical Design".

Now it’s time for the final vote, so please cast your vote for Ogre! You should cast your vote even if you nominated us before, because it’s this final vote which counts when identifying the winners. Again I advise that "Best Project For Multimedia" is the most appropriate category, but we’d love for you to vote for us in the other 3 categories too of course 🙂

LEXIExporter for 3DS Max 9

{mosimage}NDS have just updated their LexiExporter for 3D Studio Max and LexiViewer tool, both of which can now be obtained from the Tools Downloads section. The main update is that LexiExporter is now built for 3DS Max version 9, but they have also reorganised things a bit so that DLLs, shaders and logs are in more sensible locations and don’t clutter the Max directory. Other improvements include smart loading and unloading of the Ogre DLLs to be more compatible with oFusion, and some bugfixes.

Thanks go to NDS for their continuing work on the exporter!

Sourceforge Community Choice Awards

{mosimage}Sourceforge are running their Community Choice Awards again this year and have encouraged project admins to mobilise their communities – so, if you like Ogre and would like to nominate it for a category, please do! I’d suggest "Best Project for Multimedia" is the most appropriate category, although if you want you can nominate us for other categories as well since you are allowed to nominate in each category once.
