0.13.1 Released

The 0.13.1 maintenance release is out; this brings all the bugfixes we’ve made over the last month into the stable release. As you probably know we branch the CVS repository at every major release so users of the stable releases can get these crucial updates without having to use the potentially less stable development version. Full details of the changes can be found in the detail of this post.

Ragdoll support using ODE

It’s always the same, isn’t it – no ragdoll simulations for ages, and then 2 come along at once 😉

This time it’s a part of bad_camel’s Oasis framework, which is a complete game engine frameworks using Ogre for rendering, ODE for physics, Lua for scripting and OpenAL for sound.

Ragdoll support using OgreTok

staringmonkey and KayNine have been busy adding ragdoll support to OgreTok, which is a binding library letting you use Tokamak Physics together with Ogre.

Take a look at some early screenshots, I think you’ll agree it’s looking very exciting. These screenshots simply show the body as a series of simple shapes (spheres and boxes), KayNine is busy integrating this with Ogre’s skeletal animation so soon we should be able to fling any character model around using this. Great work guys!

You can get more info from the forum thread on OgreTok.

Updated Tools Download

I’ve just updated the precompiled tools download, it was pointed out that the 3DS exporter in that package wasn’t quite up to date with CVS, and there was also a small tweak required to the Wings3D exporter. Both have been updated, and you can get the latest from the tools download page.

Win32 Dependencies Download Link

I just realised that I didn’t update the Win32 3rd-party dependencies link last night for 0.13.0; the new dependencies had been on Sourceforge’s downloads for a while but I forgot I hadn’t updated our downloads page yet. You’ll need this if you use MSVC, and you can get it here.
