New DIE Release

This announcement is a few days late, but a new release of DIE is available, complete with new levels, networking code, Python scripted console, a GUI and all sorts of other nice gubbins. The release is Linux only at this time due to difficulties in compiling the Boost.Python code under MSVC; if you’re a MSVC user with time on your hands, please give wolfman8k (the author) a hand and assist with the Win32 port. We’d all appreciate it, because this project is looking very nice indeed.

Exporters binary downloads updated

I’ve just updated the prebuilt exporters download (v0.12.1b), this includes updated versions of the Maya exporter, a bugfix to properly balance multiple blending weights per bone during exporting for all modellers, and a binary version of the cTh’s popular meshviewer (GuiMeshUtil) which allows you to view / modify .mesh files directly. Grab it from the exporters downloads page.

.plan files moved

In an attempt to make our .plan files easier to maintain, I’ve moved them to a wiki. The other advantage is that it’s easier to include pictures this way. I’ve started to make a concerted effort to try to keep my plan up to date – we’ll see how long it lasts 🙂

Maya Exporter update

The prebuilt exporters archive has been updated, it now includes separate Maya exporters for v4.5 and v5 since v5 users were getting problems with the last one. You can download it from the Exporters Download Area. Thanks to macross and fifty1 again.

VC6 Missing file in 0.12.1

Sorry, an incorrect project option got merged from the main CVS branch into the 0.12.1 release by mistake under VC6 (VC7 and gcc users are unaffected); if you have already downloaded the release and get an error about missing file ‘OgrePrecompiledHeaders.cpp’, then please download the fixed OgreMain project file and save it in ogrenew/OgreMain/scripts.

I’m fixing the download archive now so future downloaders won’t get this problem.

0.12.1 Released

Version 0.12.1 has now been released, you can get the updated release from the Source Releases > Stable Releases download area. This is a bugfix release mainly, although we have also added the new, improved Maya exporter contributed by macross and fifty1 (thanks guys). Full details of the changes are in the changelog and in the full body of this news posting.
