.plan file updated

Yeah, I know I should do it more often 🙂

My .plan is now up to date with the current things I’m working on and some of the key things which are going on behind the scenes in OGRE.

_mental_ joins the team

We have a new developer! _mental_ (aka josullivan), has been doing a lot of good work on the GL renderer lately, and has now officially joined the team. Welcome!

2 new mesh converters

We have 2 new mesh converters in CVS, one from Daniel Wesslen to convert VRML97 files, and another from Attila Tajti to convert Wings3D files. They’re pretty new so don’t have build environments for all compilers, and need a little more testing so please have a go, comment in the forums and contribute if you can.

3DS Max Exporter updated

A new version of the 3DS Max exporter is now available on the exporter downloads page, this version includes a good many fixes and enhancements from earthquakeProof. The exporter allows you to export fully animated meshes from 3DS to OGRE.

The export path is via XML (which handily allows you to read and potentially edit the exported data), and this download includes a precompiled version of OGRE’s XMLConverter.exe which allows you to turn the XML into binary .mesh and .skeleton files for use in runtime applications.

Consolidated tips, resources and tutorials

Due to popular demand, I’ve started an area for consolidating the useful tips, tutorials and resources that have popped up as OGRE has become more popular. This replaces the previous tutorials area.

Please feel free to add your own links to these sections (which will be reviewed by the OGRE team). If you don’t have your own hosting and still want to contribute, please send the tutorials, code snippets etc to one of the team members and we will host it ourselves.
